The Union Cabinet has approved India’s sixth semiconductor plant in Uttar Pradesh’s Jewar. The INR 3706 plant is a proposed joint venture between HCL and Foxconn. Expected to start in 2027, it will manufacture display driver chips for smartphones, laptops etc. India’s semiconductor industry is growing with multinational companies' investments and domestic manufacturing.
