CCI has imposed a fine of Rs 74 crores on drug companies Himalaya and Intas Pharmaceuticals along with their senior officials and two Madhya Pradesh based drug associations for indulging in anti-competitive practices. The two drug companies had mandated the requirement of obtaining a no objection certificate/ letter of consent prior to the appointment of any stockists by them, which was found to be anti-competitive by the CCI, who penalised them along with the drug associations (Madhya Pradesh Chemists and Druggists Association and Indore Chemists Association) and their senior officials.
